Polesskie Zhurawiny: Cranberry harvesting in Europe’s biggest cranberry farm

Polesskie Zhurawiny: Cranberry harvesting in Europe’s biggest cranberry farm
18 Oct 2018

The cranberry field planted in Pinsk District in 1985 has turned into Europe’s biggest cranberry farm. Cranberries have numerous health-supportive properties and can be used to prevent cardiovascular diseases and boost the immune function. These berries are incredibly rich in vitamins and microelements.

October is a time of cranberry harvesting. Polesskie Zhurawiny cultivates eight most widespread cranberry varieties. The maximum yield was 30 tonnes per 1 hectare, while the entire cranberry field is 85 hectares large. A significant part of the berries is exported to the UK, the Netherlands, Poland, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Kazakhstan and Romania.
