6 Dec 2019

The Museum of Christmas Decorations exhibition project kicked off at the National History Museum of Belarus on 6 December.

The exhibition featured Christmas decorations from Europe, Asia, Australia, America and Africa. Among them are rare exhibits: a replica of the decoration given to Pope John Paul II as a gift and later inscribed in the Guinness Book of Records, a huge glass bauble, which decorated the Vienna Christmas Ball, and many more. Visitors will have a chance to get familiar with traditions of Christmas celebrations in North Korea, Iran, Congo, Peru, Rwanda, Antigua and Barbuda, New Zealand and many other countries.

Every child will be able to enjoy the atmosphere of a fairytale while an adult – to return to their childhood. The exhibition is built on the principle of a magical labyrinth which presents the history of the production of glass Christmas toys from the mid-19th century to the present day. In addition, the little ones will be able to enjoy a miniature interactive Christmas town.

For the third year in a row, the project has been implemented in cooperation with the Minsk factory Grai, the country’s only company producing Christmas decorations. Visitors to the museum will be able to learn the secrets of the Christmas decorations manufacturing process at the Minsk factory Grai and attend a toy making workshop.

The exhibition will be running till 20 January.
