Immortal Songs and Fireworks: Victory Day celebration in Minsk Hero City
9 May 2019

May waltz, Cranes, Victory Day, and many other popular wartime and post-war songs were performed at the concert celebrating the 74th anniversary of the Great Victory.

When darkness fell and festive lights illuminated Minsk, the grand concert titled as Immortal Songs started in Victory Square. It is a part of the already traditional Victory Square TV project which was launched in 2016 in line with Belarus president’s instruction. The evening of 9 May drew thousands of guests in the heart of Minsk and millions of people watched the event live on TV. Belarusian celebrities and young artists staged a music performance in the open air accompanied by the Belarus President Orchestra. A lot of them also shared stories of their family members who had fought in the war supporting the motto “Belarus Remembers”.

The celebration wrapped up with a firework. At 23:00, the city launched 30 rounds of fireworks from six sites into the sky to mark the Great Victory.
