Geely Atlas

The flagship model of the new factory is the Geely NL3 crossover named Atlas. The Atlas project coordinator was Peter Horbury, a famous British designer and vice president of Geely Automobile Holding Limited. He noted at the presentation: “The Atlas model has been named after the Greek god who symbolizes power and strength, and whose mission was to hold up the sky. We wanted to design a car that would be able to get through harsh winters and hot summers while keeping its elegant self-control”. Geely Atlas will come in four colors: red, white, black, and silver.

In early 2018, after Chinese partners modify the new facility, the factory will start producing another two models: the NL4 crossover (updated Geely Emgrand X7) and the FE3 sedan (Emgrand 7). The latter claims to be a people’s car in Belarus.

As of today, the share of local content stands at 30%. There are plans to increase it at least to 50% in the near future to sell the cars in the EAEU, in particular. The engine, battery, exhaust system, front and rear axles, seats, rims, and tires will be made in Belarus. The president set a task to set up an own design bureau at the new BelGee factory.

According to preliminary estimates, Geely Atlas which will soon go on sale will cost from $17,500 to $18,000, which is cheaper than similar competitor vehicles.

The Belarusian government is busy working on a program to stimulate the domestic demand and offer additional customer benefits: loans, leasing, and insurance on favorable terms. A more challenging task, however, is to win the hearts and minds of customers across the globe given fierce competition on the market.
