5 Jan 2020

Throughout 2019, Belarus captivated with sceneries, won over people’s hearts with hospitality, worked, gathered rich harvests, hosted large-scale tournaments and numerous cultural events, both well-known and new ones such as unusual exhibitions, unique rites, and first nights. All these events were covered by our photographers who worked 24/7 to capture the most important moments in the country’s life!

The year 2019 was full of large-scale sports and cultural events. The ISU European Figure Skating Championships in January drew thousands of sport fans to Minsk Arena. In February, renowned Olympic champions Darya Domracheva and Nadezhda Skardino bid farewell to professional sport and passed the baton to future champions, including participants of the 2019 IBU Open European Championships in Raubichi. Throughout May Belarus and all of Europe followed the journey of the Flame of Peace torch relay. The relay also made part of the series of events timed to the 75th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from the Nazi invaders. In June Minsk played host to one of the most awaited sports events of recent years – the 2nd European Games. July was filled with millions of selfies for social networks and photos for news articles from Vitebsk that hosted the Slavianski Bazaar festival. Meanwhile, the city of Brest celebrated its millennium birthday throughout the year.

So many interesting photos were made during 365 days! Here is the top 50 from 2019. Also check out our monthly selections of best photos.
