70th anniversary of the Great Victory in Belarus

70th anniversary of the Great Victory in Belarus
7 Apr 2015

The Great Patriotic War was recorded in the history of Belarus as the greatest tragedy of all times, the largest war by the number of victims and the scale of destruction. Those dreadful years took lives of every third Belarusian: people paid with their lives to repel the Nazi and defend the motherland against the enemy. In memory of the courage and the great deeds accomplished by the Belarusian nation magnificent memorials have been erected as well as symbol monuments, graves are held sacred, unique expositions have been opened, including the world’s first museum of history of the Great Patriotic War… In the year of the 70th anniversary of the Victory festive events are held all over the country: patriotic actions, rallies, memory relay races, forums, exhibitions, art contests. Certainly, the most touching events are meetings with the people, who saw and still remember all the horrors of the war as if they happened yesterday. Representatives of government agencies bestow commemorative medals "70 years of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" upon war veterans during solemn events.

Our photo gallery features the most remarkable events held in anticipation of the celebration of the Great Victory.
