MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) – The 2015 UIPM World Cup Final (Class A competitions) starts in the Belarusian capital Minsk on 11 June, BelTA informs.
Partaking in the competitions will be 72 best athletes (36 men and 36 women in line with the 2015 UIPM World Cup international rating), who will compete not only for medals but also the 2016 Summer Olympics berths.
The men’s final will take place on 13 June, with the women’s final scheduled for 14 June. On 11 June the competitions will open with a non-Olympic program – a mixed relay. The competitions will feature representatives of Argentina, Belarus, Guatemala, Egypt, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Mexico, the Republic of Korea, Russia, the Czech Republic. Belarus will be represented by Yekaterina Orel and Ilya Polozkov. Fencing, the first event of the competitions, will start at the track and field manege of the Belarusian State University of Physical Education at 9.30 (local time). Swimming competitions will take place at the swimming pool of the Belarusian university at 12.00. The National Olympic Equestrian Center Ratomka will host the official opening ceremony of the 2015 UIPM World Cup Final at 13.30. The ceremony will be followed by a fencing bonus round, show jumping and a combined event of pistol shooting and a 3200m cross-country run.
12 June is a day off competitions.
The UIPM World Cup is a series of annul sport events in modern pentathlon held under the auspices of the International Modern Pentathlon Union. The series combines four stages and the final event. Winners earn spots in the Olympic Games.
The UIPM Executive Committee announced that Belarus would host the 2015 World Cup Final at the congress in Sofia, Bulgaria in November 2014.
