MINSK, 11 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Turkmen cooperation is of a strategic nature, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said during the talks with Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, BelTA has learned.
“Annual meetings at the highest level highlight the strategic nature of the Belarusian-Turkmen relations, and the mutual interest in development of partnership,” the head of state noted.
“The one-on-one talks showed that we have similar views. Belarus and Turkmenistan have traditionally supported each other in international organizations,” Alexander Lukashenko noted. The Belarusian leader is confident that this will continue. The President noted that his Turkmen counterpart stressed the similarity of the positions of the two states on the international agenda.
According to the President of Belarus, Turkmenistan enjoys a well-deserved reputation on the world stage as a predictable partner with a well-reasoned policy. Infrastructure projects essential for the entire Central Asia have been launched on the initiative of the country. “Your assistance in helping Belarus to join them, about which we just talked, could create an additional basis for the development of our relations, and contribute to the weight of Turkmenistan in the region. You can always count on us in this matter,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
