MINSK, 28 September (BelTA) – Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus, the defending Wuhan champion, reclaimed the trophy as she beat American Alison Riske on 28 September, BelTA has learned.
The World No. 14 closed out a 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 win for her first title since January. This is her fourth career WTA title.
On her way to the final, Aryna Sabalenka defeated reigning World No.1 Ashleigh Barty of Australia 7-5, 6-4. Aryna Sabalenka also played Ashleigh Barty in the Wuhan semifinals last year which she won 7-6, 6-4. Eventually the Belarusian claimed the 2018 Wuhan Open champion title by defeating Estonia’s Anett Kontaveit in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.
