MINSK, 16 December (BelTA) - Nadezhda Pavlova of Russia won the Grand Prix of the Second Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition, BelTA learned from the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus, who is the organizer of the competition.
Mikhail Malafiy from Ukraine was awarded the first prize. The second prize went to Belarusian artist Viktor Mendelev, and the third prize to Russian Yelena Stikhina.
The winners of the Second Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition were also awarded prize money ($10,000 for the Grand Prix, $8,000 for the first place; $6,000 for the second and $4,000 for the third place) and also invitations to perform in leading opera theaters and companies around the world.
The winners of the Second Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition will perform in a gala concert alongside the world’s opera stars at the Sixth Minsk International Christmas Opera Forum on 20 December.
The final round of the competition featured ten artists from six countries: Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Moldova, and Mongolia. The international jury comprised theater art directors and heads of international arts agencies from 13 countries. The chairman of the jury and the organizing committee of the competition was Director General of the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus Vladimir Gridyushko.
The Second Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition was instituted in 2014 on the initiative of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus. The general partner is Belarusbank.
