Poland wins Junior Eurovision 2018 in Minsk

MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) - The Junior Eurovision 2018 was won by Roksana Wegiel from Poland. Belarus’ Daniel Yatsremski placed 11th, BelTA has learned.

Roksana Wegiel triumphed at the Junior Eurovision 2018 with the song Anyone I Want to Be.

Following the vote of the national jury and internet users the Polish representative scored 215 points.

Roksana Wegiel is 13 years old. She is the winner of season one of The Voice Kids Poland. Apart from music, she also goes in for artistic gymnastics, judo and dancing. Roksana’s first single Zyj scored more than 8 million views on YouTube. She has over 200,000 subscribers in the social networks. Her latest single Obiecuje has also become very popular with fans. Currently, Roksana Wegiel is working on her debut album.

The top three also included Angelina of France (203) and Jael of Australia (201). Belarus’ Daniel Yastremski performed eighth with the song Time. He placed 11th with the total of 114 points.

Poland got the highest 12 points from the national jury of France. Daniel Yastremski of Belarus received 12 points from Armenia. Belarus gave its 12 points to Australia.

The Junior Eurovision 2018 took place at Minsk Arena on 25 November. Competing for the Crystal Microphone trophy were representatives of 20 countries, the record-high number in the history of the competition.

Belarus has been taking part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest since it was first held by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in 2003. Belarus won the contest in 2005 (by Kseniya Sitnik) and in 2007 (Aleksei Zhigalkovich). In 2017 Belarus’ Helena Meraai placed 5th.

Belarus hosted the competition for the second time. Minsk played host to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2010.
