Minsk to host Nationwide Conference on Teaching plenary session 24 August

MINSK, 24 August (BelTA) – A plenary session of the Nationwide Conference on Teaching will take place in Minsk on 24 August. Attending the event will be Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, BelTA informs.

Over 800 people have been invited to take part in the plenary session. Among them are high-ranking officials, heads of government bodies and local authorities, MPs, workers of educational institutions from all regions of Belarus and the city of Minsk. In an open mic format, they will share their ideas and experience in various fields.

The plenary session of the Nationwide Conference on Teaching will focus on the ongoing transformations and trends in educational processes, their adaptation to the demands of the time taking into account the best Belarusian and foreign practices. The participants will evaluate the results of development of all elements of the education system in Belarus, outline the prospects of its improvement. The role of teachers, principles and approaches to the education of the younger generation will also be in the center of attention of the discussions.

The event will feature a display of creative achievements of teachers, study guides and textbooks, new technologies in education. One of the innovations is the so-called smart school bus using special software to guarantee additional protection of students.

The televised version of the plenary session of the Nationwide Conference on Teaching will be broadcast by the Belarus 1 and Belarus 24 TV channels at 21:30 on 24 August.

The Nationwide Conference on Teaching kicked off with a number of themed workshops and panel sessions. Specialists have already discussed a wide range of issues, including modern approaches to enhancing the quality of preschool education, the contribution that the vocational training may make to the innovative development of the Belarusian economy, the main areas of activities for higher education establishments, and the training of the teaching staff. The most debated subjects include the transition to the universal secondary education, the reduction of the required intake of the country’s higher educational institutions and its simultaneous increase at vocational schools, and the possible return to the five-point academic grading system. The main objective of the forum is to set tasks for the 2017-2018 academic year, discuss conceptual approaches to the development of the education system for the mid term through 2020 and the long-term period up to 2030.
