MINSK, 11 September (BelTA) – MPs should be more politically active both inside the country and on the international arena, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko told media on 11 September, BelTA has learned.
“When we discussed the election campaign I reiterated that our MPs should become more politically and diplomatically involved, be more politically active both inside the country and on the international arena,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
The President drew attention to the fact that it is not only the head of state who should address important issues for the country. “Public diplomacy is akin to parliamentary diplomacy. This is what out Parliament lacks,” the head of state said.
Alexander Lukashenko also noted high competition in the elections. “Four to five people are running per one seat. This is very high competition,” the President emphasized.
