Lukashenko wants flawless planning and execution of EAEU summit, Eurasian Economic Forum

Lukashenko wants flawless planning and execution of EAEU summit, Eurasian Economic Forum

MINSK, 19 June (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko convened a meeting on 19 June to discuss preparations for the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting and the Eurasian Economic Forum, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked that in just a week, Minsk will host the country's largest international events of this year - the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting and the Eurasian Economic Forum. Representatives of more than two dozen countries are expected to attend. There will be about 10 heads of state and the leadership of a number of international organizations.

“We have a lot to do. Today we should review our readiness for this event. We know how to receive guests on such a scale. Everything should be well organized. This pertains to organizational matters and the substance of the events,” the president emphasized. “Let our Belarusian hospitality shine through (we can do this), let's create comfortable working and living conditions for our guests. Particular attention should be paid to the substance of all the events - from the forum to the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting,” the Belarusian president said.

The head of state noted that there is much to discuss in the EAEU, but no one needs meetings for the sake of meetings. “The agenda of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council should be rich and substantive, it should be aligned with our national interests. The Eurasian Economic Commission submitted as many as 700 pages - 4 kilograms of materials. And they propose to adopt almost all of them without discussion. If they have been finalized and agreed upon, if they meet our interests and the interests of other states, if everything is so good with them, so let it be. If this is all hollow and does not have a gram of added value for the union, then such matters should not be included in the agenda. I am talking about this because as the chairman I will propose this agenda,” said the Belarusian leader.
