MINSK, 12 September (BelTA) - The more personal achievements we have, the stronger our Belarus is, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he presented state awards on 12 September, BelTA has learned.
“Today, in the run-up to Day of People's Unity, we are honoring hardworking people, devoted to their country,” the head of state said. “You have come here from different parts of Belarus. You have also traveled different roads to your success, but these roads have made one path today. Our path. It has opened the doors of the Palace of Independence, the symbol of our independence, and led you to well-deserved awards.”
According to the president, there is a certain symbolism in this event. “Working in various fields, setting different goals, we achieve high results, which eventually become a common success, the success of our country,” Aleksandr Lukashenko continued. “The more personal achievements we have, the stronger our Belarus is.”
“Each of you personifies the best national traits of Belarusians. This is diligence, which is manifested in the desire to develop one's abilities, to constantly learn and grow professionally,” the president emphasized. “This is patriotism, which we see in the desire to serve the Fatherland, readiness to stand up at any moment in defense of this Fatherland. By growing bread, teaching and educating children, helping people with a difficult life, and saving lives you demonstrate responsibility, mercy and humanity of the Belarusian people - the main features of our nation. Your creativity reflects the beauty and harmony of our culture. Scientific achievements show the intellectual power, and sport victories show the strength of our nation's spirit,” the head of state said.
The Belarusian president added: “Your life experience is the bright pages of our common history, the history of sovereign independent Belarus.”
“I want to thank you, and in your person all the Belarusians who give a part of their soul to their favorite cause, to people and native country,” the president said.
The head of state conferred the Order of Labor Glory on Nikolai Prokopchuk, professor of the Polymer Composite Materials Department of the Belarusian State Technological University, and Sergei Yefremenko, director of the production unitary enterprise Tsvetlit of the Belarusian Society of the Deaf. Aleksandr Podobed, electric fitter of Belkommunmash Company, was awarded the Order of Honor.
The Order of the Fatherland 3rd Class was conferred on Andrei Gurinovich, Head of the Medical Unit (Special Purpose) of the State Institution “432 Order of Red Star Main Military Clinical Medical Center of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus”, and Pavel Kharchenko, Head of the 14th Border Guard Unit of the Border Service.
Nikita Dedin, a police officer of the Luninets Division of the Security Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, was awarded the Medal for Saved Life.
A number of honorary titles of the Republic of Belarus were also conferred. The Honored Transport Worker title was bestowed upon director of the Baranovichi Bus Park Vladimir Puchko, the Honored Border Guard title - upon First Deputy Chairman of the State Border Committee Igor Butkevich. The Honored Artist title went to Igor Khlebus, Head of the Military Orchestral Service of the Armed Forces, Head of the State Institution “Exemplary Orchestra of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus”, and Yulia Shcherbakova, Vocal Concertmaster of the Opera Company of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater.
Anton Smolski, sportsman-instructor of the national biathlon team of the Raubichi National Olympic Training Center, was named Honored Master of Sports, artist-sculptor Valentin Zankovich - Honored Art Worker of Belarus, Grigory Medvedev, Head of the Biotechnology and Veterinary Medicine Department of the Belarusian State of the Orders of the October Revolution and the Order of the Labor Red Banner Agricultural Academy - Honored Scientist.
The Honored Worker of Education title went to Lyudmila Nekhorosheva, Head of the Department of Economics of Industrial Enterprises of the Belarusian State Economic University, and Vitaly Vorobyov, Vice-Rector for International Relations and Extrabudgetary Activities of the Grodno State Medical University. Director General of Planar Sergei Avakov was named Honored Worker of Industry, Director of Vesta-Borisov Company Lyudmila Kulinchik – Honored Worker of the Services Sector. Piotr Kashtelyan, director general of the Grodno breeding enterprise, Aleksei Mikulich, director of Mankovichi production company in Stolin District, and deputy director of the Grodno Oblast Agro-Industrial Union Ivan Olizarovich were given the Honored Worker of Agriculture title.
