GOMEL, 21 July (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has thanked medics for their work during a surge of coronavirus infection cases. The head of state thanked medics as he opened the Gomel Central City Polyclinic on 21 July, BelTA has learned.

The head of state remarked upon excellent work done by doctors and medical personnel during a most complicated epidemic period. “They should be thanked for learning how to treat people in the most difficult conditions – without vaccines, without medications, an unknown disease. It is a feat,” the president said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko reminded that Belarus had chosen its own way of fighting the spread of the coronavirus infection and the approach had produced results, the disease incidence is declining. Belarus’ accomplishments have been recognized by foreign experts, too. International organizations show interest in the Belarusian experience. This is why some banking institutions show readiness to provide Belarus with considerable funds for the sake of overcoming the coronavirus situation.

At the same time the world may yet to see the second wave of the coronavirus infection, this is why it is important to take care of one’s health and prefer staying in Belarus over foreign trips. “We will not discourage you. If you want to go to the Black Sea, feel free to do so. Feel free to visit the Mediterranean Sea, the Aegean Sea, the ocean, the Canary Islands, Bali, Goa, Thailand,” the president said. He went on saying that upon returning to Belarus the travelers should be ready to stay in quarantine at their own expense if necessary while observing the relevant guidelines of the Healthcare Ministry. The ministry compiles the list of countries, after visiting which travelers are supposed to stay in self-isolation.
