Lukashenko: State emblem and flag emphasize Belarus’ identity and independence

MINSK, 11 May (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has extended greetings to the compatriots as the country celebrates the Day of State Emblem and State Flag of Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“These are the symbols of the country’s sovereignty which embody the national idea, reflect the country's glorious history and centuries-old traditions, emphasize our identity and independence in choosing the path of development,” the message of greetings says.

According to the head of state, being a link between the generations, they unite Belarusians in their striving for justice, good neighborliness and peace.

“Love for the Motherland, responsibility for its fate and future begins with the respect for the national symbols, spiritual values and the cultural heritage of the country,” the president said.
