Lukashenko, Putin to meet in Minsk on 19 December

MINSK, 16 December (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko will hold talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin at the Palace of Independence in Minsk on 19 December, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The agenda of the negotiations is expected to be extensive. The talks will begin in an extended format. The heads of state will be flanked by government members, ministers and heads of government agencies. They will discuss in detail the entire spectrum of the most pressing issues of Belarus-Russia integration.

The presidents will then have a one-on-one meeting, after which they are expected to make press appearances.

The heads of state are set to discuss in detail the implementation of the previously adopted Union State programs. This pertains, first of all, to trade and economic cooperation, joint import substitution projects. Cooperation in the energy sector will be an important point of the agenda. The presidents will also pay much attention to security issues, exchange views on the situation in the region and the world, and discuss joint measures to respond to emerging challenges.
