SOCHI, 7 February (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin are holding talks in the Laura residence in Krasnaya Polyana in Sochi, BelTA reports.
The talks of the Belarusian and Russian leaders started in a one-on-one format, with members of delegations joining later. As BelTA reported earlier, some members of the Russian delegation and reporters could not depart from Moscow on time because of bad weather.
The Russian president welcomed the Belarusian head of state on the porch. Vladimir Putin was wearing a red jacket embroidered with the coat-of-arms of the Russian Federation and the inscription ‘Putin V.V.’ Aleksandr Lukashenko was wearing a business suit.
“You are lucky. You have plenty of snow here,” the Belarusian leader said addressing his Russian counterpart. “Snow is almost gone in the place where I am staying [in the Belarus health resort in Krasnaya Polyana]. Here, in a lower place there is a lot of snow,” he said.
The meeting was held in the format of a formal breakfast. The heads of state were offered food and beverages.
