Lukashenko: Peace and tranquility in Belarus are guaranteed

MINSK, 22 February (BelTA) – Peace and tranquility in the Belarusian land are guaranteed now and in the future. The statement is part of the congratulatory address sent by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on the occasion of Fatherland Defenders Day, BelTA has learned. The address was read out by State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Stanislav Zas at a solemn meeting held on 22 February to celebrate the Day of Fatherland Defenders and Armed Forces.

Fatherland Defenders Day celebrates combat valor of the Belarusian nation and the continuity of generations in their selfless service to the Motherland. “Since Belarus became independent, it has created a modern army, which wields cutting-edge weapons and technologies and is capable of fittingly rebuffing any aggressor,” the head of state’s congratulatory address reads.

Alexander Lukashenko stressed: “I am convinced that the military organization of the state can ensure its security in the face of new global challenges and threats while peace and tranquility in the Belarusian land will remain guaranteed since homeland defense is nationwide in our country.”

The celebration is particularly important in the year of the 75th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from the Nazi invaders. “We would like to offer our kindest gratitude to Great Patriotic War veterans, who demonstrated an example of outmost valor and heroism in fighting the enemy of the entire humankind. Their courage, resilience, and patriotism will always remain a reference point for young Belarusians,” the congratulatory address reads.
