MINSK, 30 July (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with government officials to discuss topical issues of the social and political situation on 30 July, BelTA has learned.

“I believe that such short but very important meetings should become our tradition. They are necessary not only to inform people who came from regions but also to strengthen the spirit, to unite the power vertical,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “Our meeting will help synchronize watches, determine the further strategy of work in new conditions, first of all, economic conditions.”

According to the president, Belarus has already learned to live with the pandemic which shocked the world population a year and a half ago. However, the country just begins to adjust to sanctions rampage. “From our experience we know very well that any restrictions are the chance to unveil internal reserves. Certain steps have been already made,” the head of state stressed.

Aleksandr Lukashenko gave an example: Belarus has been promoting import substitution, but the ultimate goals have not been reached yet. In the conditions when you cannot even import spare parts for the manufacture of Belarusian equipment this is number one priority and a chance to progress in this field. “This is your chance – the circumstances make us step up efforts to promote import substitution. And this is a priority for the country’s economy. We should be less dependent on other markets, and the main thing for us is to get a high added value from what we produce,” the president remarked.

In his words, the talks at the SCO, EAEU platforms in bilateral formats are in full swing. “The government has developed and is implementing a package of anti-sanction measures,” the head of state added.
