Lukashenko: Many countries count on Belarus’ support

BARANOVICHI, 22 March (BelTA) – The world is looking at Belarus today, and many countries count on Belarus’ support, President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with senior officials of the Baranovichi town and district administrations on 22 March, BelTA informs.

“As soon as something is said, the wave will roll starting from Minsk to the East and to the West. It is natural as Belarus has become the fulcrum of our region due to the fact that we had clenched our teeth to withstand all bashing,” Alexander Lukashenko said. “The whole world is now looking at Belarus, from the countries in our region such as Norway, Sweden, Finland, to the distant arc, African countries.”

According to the head of state, many countries count on Belarus’ support. “Everybody knows about Belarus, and many hope that Belarus will provide support using its technologies and skills. We are not against, but it is not for free, they need to pay for it. We must earn money. But we can earn money only if we join efforts and move in a certain direction. And we do not need to tighten our belts anymore, we had done it enough already. There is no need to frighten people, we just need to work, make for ourselves and our families, our regions and our state where all of us are going to live,” the president said.

Alexander Lukashenko added that when Belarus became an independent country it did not have abundant resources and shaped authorities. “We gained independence, but it was not easy for us. And today they should not reproach us for anything. Back then we had to create our own independent sovereign state without relying on anybody. And we did it. Our generation can say a lot to the generation that will come after us,” he said.
