Lukashenko lays wreath at Victory Monument in Minsk

MINSK, 23 February (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has laid a wreath at the Victory Monument in Minsk on the Day of Fatherland Defenders and the Armed Forces of Belarus, BelTA informs.

Participating in the ceremony were the representatives of public bodies, the National Assembly, courts, the Security Council and the Armed Forces, law enforcement bodies, the Belarusian Association of Veterans, the Minsk City Hall and the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, the CIS Executive Committee, the diplomatic corps, public associations, the Belarusian Orthodox Church, and the Roman Catholic Church. They also laid wreaths at the monument.

After the ceremony Alexander Lukashenko talked to those partaking in the event. Addressing the President, they expressed hope that the situation in the country will be good. The head of state answered that Belarusians should not doubt about it. “We need to move forward,” he said. He added that it is needed to encourage local executives to worker harder.
