Lukashenko inspects crushed stone production innovations at Granit company

MIKASHEVICHI, 4 June (BelTA) – During the working trip to Brest Oblast Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko inspected innovative crushed stone production facilities and was informed about the operation of Belarusian unmanned equipment at the Sitnitskoye mine of Granit enterprise in Luninets District in 4 June, BelTA informs.

The head of state was informed about the implementation of the project “Intellectual quarry. Unmanned mining technologies at the Sitnitskoye mine” with the help of state transmission technologies through 5G networks.

The project is implemented by OAO BelAZ – the managing company of BelAZ Holding Company (provision of equipment and infrastructure), Granit enterprise (provision of the site), the Russian company VIST Mining Technology (provision of robotic and remote-operated equipment), and SOOO Belarusian Cloud Technologies (provision of 5G equipment).

Specialists said that the strategy of BelAZ to digitize mining and transportation works envisages the development of comprehensive solutions for the delivery of equipment, infrastructure and operation systems. One of the elements of these solutions is the development of unmanned mining technologies which will ensure the operation of BelAZ mining equipment on new sales markets and for new consumers.

It is expected that unmanned mining technologies will help increase the mining productivity by 30%, raise the coefficient of technological readiness through the reduction of idle time, make equipment maintenance more cost-effective through optimal operation regimes. Apart from that, the use of autonomous transport will help reduce the number of workplace injuries.

The project envisages the testing of unmanned mining technologies with the use of pilot samples of dump trucks BelAZ-7558R with the capacity of 90 tonnes and a wheel loader BelAZ-7825D.

The project was launched on 20 July 2020.

For the operation of the intellectual quarry a modern mobile operations control center was built, communications and electrical equipment was installed, 48 masts connected by more than 4 kilometers of cables were erected. There are also three masts for 5G equipment need for the operation of the quarry complex. Head-end, supporting and data transmission equipment was tested. A video surveillance system is used on the territory of the production facility.

Robotic dump trucks BelAZ-7558R, a remote-operated loader BelAZ-7825D were put in operation.

Since the launch of the project 117,631 cubic meters of overburden rocks, including by the BelAZ-7825D loader, was transported.

BelAZ specialists have developed a testing plan for manned and unmanned equipment. The primary tests revealed the need to improve software and adapt the loader to soil conditions (eight algorithms of work were tried).

Since the launch of the project the onboard devices of the two dump trucks have transmitted over 5.5GB of information for further analysis. Using this data, engineers have developed mathematical models for equipment monitoring. This data will be used to look for anomalies, preparation of forecast analytics and equipment maintenance.

The second cycle of tests is scheduled for 11 June.
