Lukashenko highlights Belarus’ cooperation with Latin America

MINSK, 25 June (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko places a special emphasis on the development of cooperation between Belarus and Latin America countries. The Belarusian head of state made the statement as he received credentials from foreign ambassadors on 25 June, BelTA has learned.

According to the Belarusian leader, this area has acquired special importance in the Belarusian foreign policy. “Latin America is a rapidly developing country that has been consistently strengthening its positions as one of the world’s economic centers,” the President noted.

Interstate contacts have recently intensified as well.

Lukashenko receives credentials from the Ambassador of Brazil to BelarusAddressing the Ambassador of Brazil to Belarus, the President underlined that this country can become Belarus’ main trade and economic partner on the South-American continent. Alexander Lukashenko noted that Brazil has powerful industry and well-developed agriculture. “We expect that the new Ambassador of Brazil will help intensify economic, political and cultural ties between our countries,” the Belarusian leader said.

Lukashenko receives credentials from the Ambassador of Uruguay with concurrent accreditationReceiving credentials from the Ambassador of Uruguay with concurrent accreditation, Alexander Lukashenko said he believes that the cooperation between Belarus and Uruguay requires more attention from the authorities of the two countries. According to the President, the mutual trade between Belarus and Uruguay is neither big nor stable. “However, your market is interesting for the Belarusian producers of potash fertilizers and agricultural equipment. In turn, Uruguay could find its place on the Belarusian market,” the head of state said.
