MINSK, 16 August (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has granted an interview to the Ukrainian reporter Diana Panchenko, BelTA has learned.
The Telegram channel Pul Pervogo noted that Diana Panchenko is the reporter, against whom a criminal investigation has been opened and sanctions have been introduced in Ukraine. She was one of the country’s most influential women in 2020. Aleksandr Lukashenko promised to grant this interview two years ago during a Big Conversation with the President and he has kept his word.
“The conversation about Ukraine lasted for about two hours. Naturally, this topic was the main one,” the Telegram channel reads.
A preview of the interview with a bit of footage has also been published by the reporter’s own Telegram channel. The content of the conversation is supposed to be revealed in the evening on 17 August.
In the brief fragment of the interview that has been published the reporter noted that Ukraine-Belarus relations are going through difficult times. “But the fact that you have agreed to this conversation already gives hope. And for the sake of the viewers I’d like to mention that the day before you said: ‘No forbidden questions, no forbidden topics’. A special thanks for this!” Diana Panchenko said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko noted: “It is so. It is the general formula of relations with the reporters you talk to and you invite. Otherwise there is no point in meeting.”
