MINSK, 1 October (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has extended Day of Older Persons greetings to Belarusian citizens of the older generation, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
“This holiday is an excellent occasion to remind people of the inseparable bond between all generations of Belarusians as an important component of the unity of the people and the state,” the message of greetings reads.
The president noted that respect for one’s elders lies at the heart of the national cultural code of Belarusians. “You have lived through many upheavals, withstood years of severe trials, and through selfless labor laid the solid foundation for the development of modern Belarus, passing on your accumulated experience to young people,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
In the Year of the Belarusian Woman, the head of state addressed words of particular gratitude to mothers and grandmothers: “It is impossible to overestimate your role in preserving true family values, which have always been and, I am sure, will remain an inspiring moral guide for those who are only beginning their life’s journey. Diligence, patience, mutual support, care for children and the elderly, unconditional parental love and patriotism are the cornerstones of our mentality.”
The president assured that the wellbeing of the country’s older citizens will continue to be one of the key priorities of Belarusian social policy.
On this festive day, Aleksandr Lukashenko wished all people of the older generation strong health, inexhaustible optimism and happiness.
