MINSK, 24 October (BelTA) – On behalf of the Belarusian nation and on his own behalf Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has congratulated Secretary General of the United Nations Organization Ban Ki-moon on the 70th anniversary of the organization’s foundation, the press service of the Belarusian leader told BelTA.

“The 70th anniversary is a good reason to think about and assess the state and prospects of the Organization’s development,” the congratulation reads.

There is no doubt that one can take rightful pride in the UN’s considerable accomplishments in dealing with international problems. “However, a lot has yet to be done in the fight against modern challenges and threats. Only by joining efforts will the UN members be able to make the world truly safe and just for everyone the way the founding nations intended it to be, including Belarus,” said the President.
