MINSK, 5 July (BelTA) – The Belarusian people values peace and stability in the country, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at a ceremony to honor the graduates of the military higher education institutions and senior officers on 5 July, BelTA has learned.
“Our people, like no one other nation, value peace and stability in the country, value their safety and security. Words such as sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity mean a lot to us. It is not just politics, it is our life. The life of our parents today and the life of our children in the future,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
According to the President, in order to preserve it all the state has been pursuing a peaceful multi-track foreign policy, strengthening its army and the country’s defense capacity. These approaches have been included in the country’s new military doctrine.
“Belarus has established a many-tier system of military education. Boys, who choose a military career, start preparing for the service in cadet classes and Suvorov Military School. Then they receive a military education at the tertiary level. The best ones learn the science of strategy, public and military administration at the Department of the General Staff,” the head of state noted.
The Belarusian leader noted that having chosen the path of service to the fatherland, officers have assumed an enormous responsibility to the country and people. “It is you who will be building up the strength of the armed forces, solving difficult and responsible tasks of ensuing state, public and border security, keep law and order in society,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
“The country has established the security system in all areas. The optimal structure has been built in the security and law enforcement departments. People in uniform in our society enjoy a well-deserved reputation,” the President said.
