MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) – Thanks to the successes of the youth, Belarus will cease to be terra incognita in modern culture, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said during the meeting with creative youth at the Belarusian State Youth Theater on 20 March, BelTA informs.
“I believe that thanks to your quest and successes, Belarus will cease to be terra incognita in modern culture. You need to strive to give your art to the whole world. Art knows no geographic and political boundaries. It is international,” the president said.
Alexander Lukashenko said that a lot of opportunities open up before young talents. “We are happy when representatives of the Belarusian creative elites find recognition abroad. But it's very sad when you realize that to become famous in our homeland, sometimes Belarusians first need to achieve success abroad. Why do we not to appreciate their skills before they gain recognition with foreign audiences first? This is our biggest problem. I emphasize again that the roots of this problems lie in the false sense of our own inferiority that we acquired in the 1990s,” the head of state noted.
In his opinion, this is the position of those who still claim that all the best things are out there, beyond our borders. They do not want to see them next to them.
“Belarus has all necessary conditions for the talented youth to make a start. There are good colleges with outstanding teachers. Competitions and festivals are held on a regular basis. Perhaps, we have missed something out. I would like to understanding where we have failed. Or, maybe, there is something wrong with our self-perception, self-respect as a nation,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
According to the president, Belarusians often win international festivals. The country organizes many national contests, including TV projects I Sing, Academy of Talents, and Country’s Talent.
