Lukashenko attends Victory Day parade in Moscow

MOSCOW, 9 May (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko is attending a military parade on Red Square in Moscow to mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, BelTA has learned.

The parade is reviewed by Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov. Russian President Vladimir Putin, together with foreign leaders, is present on the central tribune. The heads of state arrived together on Red Square. Before that, the president of Russia personally greeted each of them.

More than 20 heads of state are attending the anniversary festivities in the Russian capital. Among them are the leaders of the CIS countries, as well as China, Brazil, Slovakia, Serbia, Vietnam, Mongolia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Myanmar, Equatorial Guinea and other countries.

The Belarusian president is sitting next to his youngest son Nikolai and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

The parade featured the military of the CIS countries and armies of other friendly states. Aleksandr Lukashenko greeted the Belarusian servicemen who took part in the parade.

Once the parade is over, the leaders of the countries will lay wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Alexander Garden near the Kremlin.

Aleksandr Lukashenko arrived in Moscow on 8 May. In the evening, the Kremlin hosted a concert for the heads of delegations invited to the festive events marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The event was held in Andreyevsky Hall. The leaders of the countries also took the opportunity for informal communication.
