Kochanova: BRSM inherits Komsomol’s aspirations for peace

MINSK, 29 October (BelTA) – The BRSM Youth Union continues Komsomol’s efforts to build peace and mutual understanding, Head of the Belarus President Administration Natalya Kochanova said at a solemn reception in the Palace of the Republic, BelTA has learned.

While establishing a modern-day youth union, we were guided by Komsomol members’ noble-minded aspirations for a world without wars and aggression, a world of friendship and mutual understanding. Today we have things to be proud of. We live in a modern independent country, we have our own good traditions,” Natalya Kochanova said.

Everything the country has achieved over the years of independence would be impossible without remembering the past, without history that taught us to value peace, believe in good things and live for other people,” Natalya Kochanova said

When talking to the press Natalya Kochanova shared her personal memories. “I was also a member of Komsomol and I am very proud of it. I have the most vivid memories of that period of life,” she said. Young people wanted to be important for their country, to do something good for it. Today, when meeting with the BRSM representatives the head of state Alexander Lukashenko said that back then all aspired to be members of Komsomol. This is true, added the head of the administration. Today Belarus has the BRSM Youth Union that rallied young people together with a common goal: to do meaningful things for the people and the country.

The official meeting and the concert “Komsomol is 100: Relay of Generations” were held in the Palace of the Republic. Attending the event were heads of government bodies, Komsomol veterans, BRSM active members, representatives of youth organizations of foreign countries, and other distinguished guests.
