Gugerotti hands Belarus President’s gift to Pope Francis

MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) - Apostolic Nuncio in Belarus Archbishop Claudio Gugerotti presented Pope Francis with a gift from Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, the Immaculate Heart of Mary Icon, BelTA learnt from the Roman-Catholic Church of Belarus.

The icon is made using the Belarusian ancient woodworking technology which is considered unique, Sozh tula.

“The Pontiff highly appreciated the gesture and asked the Apostolic Nuncio to convey his sincere gratitude to the grantor and the apostolic blessing to the Belarusian people,” said representatives of the Roman-Catholic Church in Belarus.
