MINSK, 25 October (BelTA) – The 1^st Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine will take place in Gomel on 25-26 October, BelTA informs.

The first day of the forum, 25 October, will feature a meeting of the Belarusian-Ukrainian Business Cooperation Advisory Council and negotiations between companies of the two countries. The working group will consider the ways to increase the mutual presence of agricultural, food and other products on the markets of Belarus and Ukraine. Thematic events will highlight the development of river navigation between Belarus and Ukraine, cooperation in the education and youth policy, science and technology. The program of the forum on 26 October will include a plenary session Prospects for Regional Cooperation between Belarus and Ukraine.

During the forum leading Belarusian and Ukrainian companies will demonstrate their technology and products in mechanical engineering and petrochemistry, transport and logistics, agriculture and food, light industry, and tourism. A two-day exhibition of products in the Palace of Athletics will display products from the regions of Belarus and Ukraine. Taking part in the expo will be more than 140 manufacturers. The program will also include a fair of craftsmen. Large-sized machinery of the Belarusian industrial giants will be on show in Lenina Square.

In January-August 2018 Belarus-Ukraine trade totaled $3.7 billion, up 23.7% in comparison with the same period a year ago. The Belarusian export grew 23.5%, the import from Ukraine – by 24.4%. Ukraine ranked second among Belarus’ trading partners in trade and export, and fourth in the country’s import.
