CIS hailed as relevant universal platform for coordinating positions

CIS hailed as relevant universal platform for coordinating positions

MINSK, 28 October (BelTA) –The CIS remains an effective universal platform to discuss pressing issues and coordinate positions of the member states, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said during a meeting with the heads of the government delegations of the EEU and the CIS member states in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

“In Bishkek in September we specifically addressed the issues of adjusting the CIS to modern conditions. Belarus has always advocated the preservation of the CIS as a full-fledged international organization aimed at promoting regional integration. I am pleased to note that this approach was supported by all the heads of the CIS member states and was reflected in the resolution to adjust the CIS,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The President drew attention to the fact that the CIS relies on the strategy of mutually advantageous and equitable cooperation that enable every member state to make a free choice of the extent of its involvement in the integration process based on national interests. He expressed the belief that the CIS remains fully relevant.CIS hailed as relevant universal platform for coordinating positions
