MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) – In the present-day conditions we need the law enforcement bodies of Belarus and China to cooperate more closely, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with China’s State Councilor, Minister of Public Security Guo Shengkun on 10 April, BelTA has learned.
The head of state called the visit a milestone emphasizing a high level of cooperation between the two countries. Last year the status of the Belarusian-Chinese ties reached the level of trustworthy comprehensive strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation.
The president attributed the importance of establishing contacts in the law-enforcement sector to the changing realities and new global challenges. “The times have changed. It has become a very small world, and the crime has gone international. We have huge tasks that we need address together,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
“We are witnessing a big cross flow of people, with Belarusians going to China and Chinese people travelling to Belarus. We are building many joint companies in China, and there are a lot of Chinese people working here, in Belarus. With all the positive and negative tendencies in our countries there is a cross flow of problems. That is why, we need closer and more active cooperation between our law enforcement agencies,” the president said.
According to the press service of the Belarusian leader, the talks between the president of Belarus and the minister of public security of China were held ahead of the forthcoming meeting between Alexander Lukashenko and Xi Jinping. The two presidents are expected to consider the whole range of matters of the Belarusian-Chinese agenda, including security issues.
