MINSK, 9 May (BelTA) – A parade detachment comprised of 75 people of the 5th independent special operations brigade (Maryina Gorka) took part in the army parade on the occasion of Victory Day in Moscow’s Red Square, BelTA has learned.
This year taking part in the army parade in the Red Square will be over 16,500 military, including ten parade detachments from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Turkmenistan, India, China, and Serbia.
Military personnel wearing uniforms dating back to the Great Patriotic War started the parade. They were followed by military personnel of the Western Military District, the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the Federal Security Service, the interior troops of the Interior Ministry, representatives of higher military education institutions, the military academies named after Suvorov and Nakhimov.
The parade also featured modern military hardware such as platforms Armata, Bumerang, and Kurganets, which are yet to be deployed in the Russian army.
Earlier Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu stated that the parade in Moscow’s Red Square on 9 May 2015 will be the largest one in the history of modern Russia.
