MINSK, 10 July (BelTA) – Belarusian javelin thrower Tatyana Kholodovich claimed gold at the European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam, BelTA has learned.
The champion threw 66.34m in her best attempt to set a new record for Belarus. Linda Stahl of Germany finished second with 65.25m. Bronze went to Croatia’s Sara Kolak (63.50m). Barbora Spotakova of the Czech Republic finished fifth (62.66m).
“I understand that this is a serious result. I am really happy. Although I think I could do more. Ahead are the Olympic Games and a lot of work,” Tatyana Kholodovich said after her performance in Amsterdam.
In the Triple Jump Belarus’ Maxim Nesterenko finished fifth with his 16.63 result. Dmitry Plotnitsky of Belarus was 11th (16.18m).
In the Women Heptathlon Marina Netsvetayeva finished ninth (6,021 points), while Yana Maksimova placed 12th (5,702 points). In the women’s pole vaulting Irina Yakoltsevich showed 12th result (4.35m).
