Belarus president to visit remote towns in every oblast

Belarus president to visit remote towns in every oblast

IVYE DISTRICT, 21 August (BelTA) – I plan to visit remote towns in every oblast, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during his working trip to Ivye District in Grodno Oblast on 21 August, BelTA has learned.

The head of state said that he had come to Ivye District with big concerns about Grodno Oblast’s mistake to focus on the development of its western parts. Some impetus, however, has been recently given to the area around Ostrovets thanks to the ongoing construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. Little attention, though, was paid to Ivye District and some others.

“I would like to show with this visit to Ivye that the suburbs of every oblast also need to be developed,” the head of state stressed.

The president added that he had already visited the south-east of Mogilev Oblast and also Vetka District in the south of Gomel Oblast, where a lot of efforts were invested to restore and develop the Chernobyl-hit regions.

“I would like to visit areas such as Ivye District, or Glusk in Mogilev Oblast, or Kopyl in Minsk Oblast, which are not GDP-forming, but our people live there. I would like to visit remote towns in every oblast,” the president said.
