BURABAY, 15 October (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has arrived in Kazakhstan on a working visit for the sake of taking part in sessions of the CIS Heads of State Council and the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council that will take place in the town of Burabay, Akmola Oblast on 16 October, BelTA has learned.
There are 17 items on the agenda of the CIS summit. Among other things the CIS heads of state are expected to adopt a statement in view of the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the United Nations Organization, a statement on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl catastrophe, and a statement on fighting international terrorism. A number of items on the agenda will be dedicated to further enhancement of military and border cooperation. Personnel matters will also be taken care of.
During the session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council the heads of state will have to discuss the main directions of international activities, economic development of the Eurasian Economic Union, approaches to advancing trade and economic cooperation with main partners in the medium term. The presidents will also take a look at the procedure used to admit new members into the Eurasian Economic Union and disaffiliate them. The commencement of negotiations with Israel on signing a free trade zone agreement will be discussed. Organizational matters are on the agenda of the session, too.
