MINSK, 20 October (BelTA) – Belarus suggests the UN should pay more attention to cooperation with regional integration organizations for a successful implementation of sustainable development goals, Head of the Multilateral Diplomacy Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Oleg Ermolovich said speaking at the discussion of the Second Committee of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly on sustainable development, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Belarus positively assessed the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Agenda adopted on the UN Summit in September. The diplomat noted that several priority issues for Belarus such as middle-income countries, prohibition of unilateral coercive measures, energy, fight against human trafficking were reflected in the Agenda.
The representative of Belarus stressed the importance of coordinated actions of the UN system to assist countries in the implementation of sustainable development goals.
The Belarusian diplomat praised the technology facilitation mechanism launched at the UN Summit and stressed Belarus’ readiness to take an active part in this new process.
Oleg Ermolovich also took note of Belarus’ active participation in the preparation to the upcoming international conference on climate change in Paris and announced the country’s plans and initiatives in this field.
