Two Serbian planes with humanitarian aid land in Belarus

MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – Two planes with humanitarian cargo have arrived in Belarus from Serbia. The cargo includes stationary and portable ventilators, bronchoscopes and other diagnostic equipment, oxygen concentrators, and personal protective equipment, BelTA has learned.

“We have received help from our brotherly nation. We are deeply thankful to the Serbian government and people. This will help us deal with the second wave. It might happen, so we are gearing up for it. You know, a spoon is dear when lunchtime is near. This is why we always accept help with gratitude. Of course, our country is spending huge funds on the coronavirus response and we are grateful for any help,” Belarus Deputy Healthcare Minister Boris Androsyuk said. “The cargo will be distributed among all Belarusian regions taking into account the current demand,” he added.

Belarus and Serbia have always maintained friendly, brotherly relations, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Serbia to Belarus Veljko Kovacevic stressed. “When Serbia needed help, for example, five years ago, during a devastating flood, Belarus was among the first countries to lend us a helping hand. This small gesture from the Serbian government and president has once again confirmed the nature of the brotherly relations between Serbians and Belarusians,” the ambassador noted.
