Humanitarian project of Smorgon District Culture Center

Project name: Festival of folk instrumental music “You play how you know, I dance like I want”

Implementation period: 12 months

Applicant: Smorgon District Culture Center

Project goals: Preservation, development and popularization of Belarusian folk instrumental music

Project tasks:

1. Creating conditions to preserve and develop the Belarusian folk musical and instrumental tradition;
2. Attracting attention of a wide range of people from Belarus and foreign countries to the Belarusian traditional instrumental music;
3. Popularizing the folk musical and instrumental tradition of Smorgon District locally known as Smorgon tunes;
4. Creating a platform for the cultural exchange of knowledge and skills in the field of folk instrumental music on national and international levels;
5. Developing tourism and cultural potential of the countryside.

Target group: Without restrictions

Brief description:

1. Starting a festival of folk instrumental music, to be held once every two years in the estate of Francishak Bogushevich in the village of Kushlyany, Smorgon District:
- Purchasing a mobile stage complex;
- Purchasing 400 folding chairs and 100 tourist rugs for spectators;
- Purchasing 22 national costumes for amateur artists of Smorgon District region in order to promote this element of intangible cultural heritage;
- Producing diplomas for festival participants;
- Renting of a wooden dance floor;
- Renting two dry-closets;
 
2. Festival advertising in the media and social networks;
3. Releasing 700 CD-ROM with 30 audio tracks of folk musical and instrumental melodies recorded in Smorgon District;
4. Conducting master classes to teach playing folk instrumental music by ear, and dancing folk dances;
5. Production of thematic souvenir gifts as rewards to festival participants (magnets, postcards, booklets, keychains, etc.);
6. Organization of a science conference on ways to preserve and develop the Belarusian folk musical and instrumental tradition;
7. Publication of materials of a science conference.
