Humanitarian project in Vitebsk Oblast offered for co-financing

Project name: Humanitarian project "I can help!"

Applicant: The life safety and public liaison center at the Vitebsk Regional Office of the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus in cooperation with the regional organization of the Belarusian Red Cross Society

Implementation period: 12 months

Project objective:
 
To reduce the number of deaths as a result of injuries and accidents, as well as due to unspecified/incompetent first aid in Vitebsk Oblast, including remote small settlements.

The project is designed to create better opportunities and improve cooperation between citizens, primary organizations, local authorities, and relevant agencies in injury prevention and first aid training.

The project aims to contribute to public awareness and engagement and to reduce vulnerability of the population in remote rural areas of Vitebsk Oblast. Volunteers of the Vitebsk Oblast Office of the Belarusian Red Cross Society and employees of the Vitebsk Regional Office of the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus make their contribution to the reduction of vulnerability, public awareness, sustainable development and involvement in the decision-making process.

Goals:

1) to introduce new methods of cooperation with the population to prevent injuries and train first aid skills through increasing the competence of specialists of different organizations and volunteers.
2) to develop self-protection skills among people and increase the quality of first aid services.
3) to highlight the issues related to poor awareness about life safety rules and the need to learn first aid skills.

Target group: citizens of all age and social categories from Vitebsk Oblast, including small settlements.

Brief description of the activities

1. Training of injury prevention instructors/specialists and teaching first aid skills among personnel of the public relations teams of the city and district departments of the Emergencies Ministry of the Republic of Belarus, specialists and volunteers of the Vitebsk Oblast Organization of the Belarusian Red Cross in each district of Vitebsk Oblast.

2. Development of the mobile training complex “I can help!” in cooperation with Vitebsk Oblast Organization of the Belarusian Red Cross Society to provide citizens of all age and social categories with interactive training on trauma preventive measures and first aid skills with the simulation of a real emergency situation.

3. Development of two zonal resource centers in Vitebsk and Novopolotsk at the city departments of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry and the city organizations of the Belarusian Red Cross Society for regular training in injury prevention and first aid skills (available material resources will be provided to all district structures of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry and the Red Cross Society).

4. Regular use of the mobile training complex and the zonal resource centers for training people in injury prevention and first aid.

5. An awareness campaign to popularize knowledge in injury prevention and first aid.
