Plans to develop recuperation program for foreign children in Belarus for 2019

MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) – The Education Ministry will team up with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop a recuperation program for foreign children in Belarus for 2019, Belarus’ Education Minister Igor Karpenko told the media on 18 October, BelTA has learned.

According to Igor Karpenko, thanks to the recuperation program for foreign children in 2018 Belarus was visited by about 500 Syrian children, about 300 children from China, and also Japanese kids. “At present the Education Ministry, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is deciding on the priorities for the recuperation program for foreign children for 2019. This is an important humanitarian component of the Belarusian foreign and social policy,” he said.

This year Belarus hosted Syrian children from families affected by the armed conflict, children of fallen servicemen, gifted youth, young athletes. “They closely communicated with our teenagers, participated in various programs. The Syrian kids even tried to learn some Russian and Belarusian. By hosting these children and helping recuperate their health, we show that we are a peaceful nation. We pursue a multi-vector foreign policy and advocate resolution of all international issues exclusively through political dialogue,” the minister said.

The Borok children's health recuperation camp hosted a joint seminar-meeting of the Education Ministry and the national center of health resort treatment and recuperation to examine the children’s summer health recuperation campaign 2018.
