IOM hands over 25,000 pieces of PPE to Belarusian customs service

MINSK, 23 July (BelTA) – The Belarus Office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) with support of the European Union has donated about 25,000 pieces of personal protective equipment to the State Customs Committee of Belarus, BelTA learned from the State Customs Committee.

The PPE includes nearly 15,000 face masks, 9,500 gloves and 10 contactless thermometers. Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee Nikolai Svirid thanked senior officials and the staff of IOM Belarus. According to him, the PPE will be forwarded to the checkpoints on the customs border.

The personal protective equipment was purchased in line with the EU’s border management projects implemented by the IOM. “Today healthcare and border management issues are interrelated like never before. We are glad that we can help our long-standing partner – the State Customs Committee by strengthening its capacities at checkpoints,” said Mahym Orazmuhammedova, Chief of Mission at IOM Belarus.
