MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) – Belarus will soon receive a batch of the Chinese COVID-19 vaccine for 150,000 people, Deputy Healthcare Minister – Chief Sanitary Inspector of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Tarasenko told journalists on 7 May, BelTA has learned.

“We expect to receive the Chinese vaccine against COVID-19 for 150,000 people in the near future,” he said. The batch of Chinese jabs will be supplied as humanitarian aid from the Chinese government.

Vaccinations with the Russian Sputnik V jab bottled at the Belarusian pharmaceutical company Belmedpreparaty are in full swing in Belarus.

According to the latest data, around 300,000 people, or 3.3% of the Belarusian population, have already received the first dose of the vaccine. As many as 150,000 Belarusians have already got both shots. The second dose is administered at least 21 days after the first one. The gap between the doses can be up to 45 and even 56 days long, Aleksandr Tarasenko noted.
