MINSK, 29 April (BelTA) – China’s Gansu Province and the city of Beijing have sent Belarus medications used in traditional Chinese medicine that have proven effective in preventing and treating COVID-19, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in China.

Humanitarian cargo with these medications arrived in Belarus on 26 April, the embassy noted. “Another batch of aid from China amounted to around 50 tonnes,” the embassy stressed. “Same as last time, the humanitarian cargo for Belarus was compiled by China’s provinces of Hubei, Hainan, Guizhou, Gansu, and Jiangxi as well as the city of Beijing and Chinese partner companies,” the embassy added.

Belarusian enterprises and organizations – Energo-Oil, Wargaming, Servolux – have also contributed to the cargo. They bought medicines, reagents, face masks, and other medical products in China and donated them to the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry.

“On the instruction of the Belarusian president, the plane carrying the humanitarian cargo also delivered a production line to make three-layer face masks that was bought in China,” the embassy pointed out.

The embassy noted that Belarusians who reside in China also send humanitarian aid to Belarus. They purchase medical products and donate them to Belarusian healthcare facilities.

“The total weight of humanitarian aid sent from Beijing to Belarus to fight the coronavirus amounted to around 70 tonnes. This campaign involved 19 Chinese provinces, regions, and cities, agencies and companies from China with active participation of the Chinese Embassy in Belarus, Belarusian organizations and citizens,” the embassy said.

Sinotrans (China Merchants Group) provides free logistics services for this cargo in Beijing. The aid was sent to Belarus in cooperation with the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Healthcare Ministry, the State Customs Committee, the Emergencies Ministry, the Defense Ministry, and other government agencies and organizations.
