Belarus gets oxygen concentrators from China

MINSK, 2 June (BelTA) – The Il-76 aircraft of the Belarusian Defense Ministry with humanitarian aid from China has arrived in Belarus. The cargo includes 100 oxygen concentrators, BelTA has learned.

The cargo was accompanied by a rescue team led by Deputy Emergencies Minister Anatoly Dolgolevets. The plane from China landed at Minsk National Airport today. This is the fourth delivery of the humanitarian cargo for Belarus, carried out in accordance with the decision of the president and the government resolution.

On board the Il-76 are medical supplies, with the total weight of 22 tonnes.

The cargo will be distributed across the country. Priority will be given to the regions that are currently struggling the hardest to fight the infection. Deputy Healthcare Minister Boris Androsyuk said that the cargo includes PPE and 100 oxygen concentrators. “I would like to thank UNICEF and Wargaming, who once again provide us with assistance,” the deputy minister said.

According to Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to Belarus Dr. Rashed Mustafa Sarwar, the concentrators were purchased by the organization together with Wargaming. He thanked the Belarusian government for the delivery of the cargo. “Today, it is very difficult to find the equipment to fight the pandemic, as the whole world needs it. There were a lot of negotiations. We are very lucky that we have a big logistics hub in Copenhagen. We kept in touch with Copenhagen, and they organized the supply. We will have some more deliveries like this,” he added.

The students of the University of Civil Protection of the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus will reload the cargo to the transport of the Emergencies Ministry. After that the cargo will be delivered to the warehouses of the Healthcare Ministry.

More than 100 tonnes of humanitarian aid have been delivered to Belarus from China in four flights. On 13 May, the Belarusian Il-76 brought respirators, tests and rapid tests, equipment to produce domestic respirators, pulse oximeters, no-contact thermometers, protective overalls and 11 lung ventilators.
