MINSK, 11 September (BelTA) - Chairmen of the Investigation Committees of Belarus and Russia Valentin Shayev and Alexander Bastrykin opened a monument to Soviet Union Marshal Georgy Zhukov in the Stalin Line historical-cultural complex near Minsk, BelTA has learned.

“Georgy Zhukov’s faithfulness to the chosen path, dedication and commitment is a worthy example for every person who sincerely loves his homeland, for every officer,” Valentin Shayev said.

Valentin Shayev expressed special gratitude for the creation of the monument to Russia's Investigation Committee, Russian State University of Justice, People's Artist of the USSR Vasily Lanovoy, and the author of the project Mikhail Serdyukov.

More than 150 young Belarusian investigators were sworn in a ceremony at the Stalin Line. "Swearing the allegiance to the Motherland, young employees undertake an honorable and responsible duty to protect the society from criminals, to follow the main principle - Law. Justice. Fatherland,” Valentin Shaeyv said.

At the conclusion of the ceremony the investigators and the guests were given an excursion around the Stalin Line historical-cultural complex. They also saw an reenactment of a tank battle of the Great Patriotic War.

Chairman of the Investigation Committee Alexander Bastrykin thanked the Belarusian colleagues for the opportunity to attend the ceremony. "We will use the experience of Belarus in patriotic upbringing of future investigators. It is nice that Belarus’ Investigation Committee finds the time and opportunity to engage in the ideological work with young personnel and remembers the great military commanders who forged our common victory in the Great Patriotic War,” he said.

Alexander Bastrykin also said: "I have the great honor to be here today, on this holy land of Belarus, every step and meter of which was soaked with the blood of the defenders during the Great Patriotic War.

Belarus and Russia are not just close friends. The countries have great historic past. "It is wonderful that the Investigation Committee of Belarus, having accepted our gift, combined two good events: unveiling of the monument and a ceremony to swear in young investigators," he added.
